A Kansas native, Matt Martin will be in his first season as an UNK assistant coach in 2008.

     The college wide receiver will lead the outside linebackers this fall.

     The past two years, Martin was a graduate assistant coach on the defensive side of the ball at his alma mater, Emporia State.

      For the Hornets, he coached the safeties, defensive line and worked with the special teams.

      In the summer of 2007, Martin worked at Nebraska-Lincoln's youth camps.

      As an ESU receiver, he caught 76 passes for 853 yards in his career and was a two-time team co-captain. For Clay Center H.S., Martin earned honorable mention all-state honors.

      He currently holds a B.S. degree in Education and a Master's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, both from Emporia.
