FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kearney Natives
Highlight Football Class

Kearney, NE – Nebraska-Kearney head football coach Darrell Morris announced today that 18 freshmen, and one transfer, have joined the Lopers. Morris said he will announce the addition of several more players in the coming weeks.

The class is highlighted four Kearney High products in Chase Biedeck, Tony Kulhanek, Tyler McNitt and Jeff Wickham. They join three other Kearney natives (Shawn Donohue, Shane Killion and Josh Krolikowski) already on the team. In addition, the Lopers added three Omaha natives in J.C. deLeon (Millard South), Tarence Lymon (Northwest H.S.) and Ben Vanderslice (Northwest H.S.).

As in previous seasons, the Lopers had success in Colorado, getting six from the Rocky Mountain state. Kicker Jessup Pfeifer, from Northglenn, should pay immediate dividends as he is in line to replace two-time All-American Henrik Juul-Nielsen.

In 2002, UNK has one of its finest seasons ever, going 9-2, winning the RMAC and making the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time.
