Lopers Win Awards After Big Weekends
Kearney, NE - Senior kicker Henrik Juul-Nielsen and sophomore outside hitter Erin Arnold have been honored for their outstanding efforts this past weekend.
Nielsen, from Denmark, was named the RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week for September 9th. In addition, he and UNO punter Kevin Ruch were Nebraska Division II Co-Special Teams P.O.W. Meanwhile, Arnold is Nebraska Division II P.O.W. for volleyball.
Nielsen booted a school-record five field goals in the Lopers 29-3 win over Wayne State. Four came from 40 or more yards, including a career-best 46 yard effort in the 3rd quarter. Nielsen also set a new UNK record for most kicking points in a game (17). Finally, five of his kickoffs were touchbacks.
Arnold, a from Casper, Wyo., was named MVP of the UNK Runza Classic this weekend. In helping the 13th-ranked Lopers improve to 8-0 on the year, Arnold averaged 4.29 kills and 3.29 digs per game while hitting at a .349 clip. In the tournament finale, she had 17 kills and 21 digs in a five game win over the College of St. Mary.
