Ross Named All-AmericanLincoln Native Honored Kearney, NE – Nebraska-Kearney sophomore wide receiver Richie Ross has been named a first-team All-American by D2football.com. The website’s 2003 All-American team was released in late December. Ross was one of three receivers on the first team, joining Ellis Debrow of Delta State (Miss.) and Nate Washington of Tiffin (Ohio). Other RMAC players on the first team include Mesa State linebacker DeMeco Moore, Chadron State defensive back Marvin Jackson and Western State’s Travis Synder (kicker) and Chaumont Bouknight (running back). Also on the first team was UNO running back Justin Kammrad. A total of two teams were picked, along with honorable mention selections at each position. Members of the D2Football.com staff chose the All-American team. The RMAC Offensive Player of the Year, Ross caught 75 balls for a school-record 1,482 yards and 11 TD’s in 2003. His per game average of 148.2 ranked second in the nation behind Debrow (148.8). In two years, the Lincoln High grad has 131 receptions for 2,624 yards and 21 TD’s. |
