Football Picked to Finish 2nd
Miller Preseason Offensive POY
Kearney, NE – The Nebraska-Kearney football team has been picked second in the RMAC Preseason Coaches poll. The Lopers tallied 11 points and three first place votes, a few spots behind Chadron State (19 points, 5 first place votes).
UNK and Chadron tied for the RMAC title last year. UNK went 9-2 while Chadron was 8-2; both teams posted 7-1 league marks.
Junior RB Mike Miller (Littleton, Colo.) was one of three Lopers to make the preseason All-RMAC team. He was named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Last fall, he ran for a school-record 1,600 yards and 13 TD's. Subsequently, he was named the 2002 Offensive POY.
Also on the preseason team are senior tight end Joel Jacobs (Mullen) and senior left tackle Ryan Bachman (Ponca).
UNK opens the season August 28th vs. UNO at home.
