Jacobs Joins RamsSecond Loper to Make NFL Camp Kearney, NE – Former Nebraska-Kearney tight end Joel Jacobs has signed a rookie free agent deal with the St. Louis Rams. The Mullen native inked the deal late last week and reports to camp today. Jacobs is the second UNK player to make it to the NFL this spring. Currently, left tackle Ryan Bachman, from Ponca, is in the Houston Texans camp. Before this spring, UNK hadn’t had a player make it to a camp since the early 1990’s. Jacobs, coming in at 6-5 and 225 lbs., caught 66 balls for 623 yards and six TD’s in his career. He is one of only three players in school history to earn first-team All-RMAC honors three times. As a senior this past fall, he had 27 receptions for 228 yards. After the season ended, Jacobs and several other seniors worked out with former NFL tight end Russ Francis. |
