2008 Captains NamedFour Defensive Players
Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney head football coach Darrell Morris announced today the team captains for the upcoming season. The group is selected by a vote of the players. Another player might be added to the list in the fall. The 2008 Loper football captains will be senior defensive linemen Jonathon Cannon (Killeen, Texas), senior linebacker Cheikh Fall (Boys Town), senior defensive end Nate Reicks (McCook), senior linebacker Charlie Rudeen (Overton) and junior center Jack Hiett (Westminster, Colo.). Cannon and Rudeen are co-captains are for the first time; the other three are repeat selections. Fall (# 32) is a two-time All-RMAC pick who led the Lopers in tackles last year with 80. Also an inside backer, Rudeen (# 43) made 32 stops in 2007 and has started games in each of the past two seasons. Reicks (# 97) earned All-RMAC in 2007, despite missing the last three games with injury. In his career, he has 99 tackles, including 28 for loss. Finally on defense, Cannon (# 99) has been of one of the team's top interior linemen the past three years. Offensively, Hiett (# 54) is a two-time first-team All-RMAC pick at center.
