UNK Athletics Promotes "Community" with Loper Alley

     Kearney, Neb. –  UNK Athletics is proud to present the newest element of Loper Tradition to the UNK campus and Kearney Community. 

     Loper Alley is a tailgating event which will be held prior to all remaining home scheduled Loper football games. The event features live entertainment, tailgating games, meet & greet with coaches and athletes, spirit competitions, appearances by UNK’s marching band and spirit squads, merchandise sales and much much more.

     The event is open to the general public as well as UNK students.  Tailgating will take place in Lot 32 which is located just west of Cope Fountain.  The area will be open four hours prior to game time.  Registration is required for any group planning to grill or have an open flame.  On September 20^th, Lot 32 will open at 9 AM with music and programmed events starting at 10 AM.

     Loper Alley will kick-off in conjunction with UNK’s Family Day Celebration. For those not planning to tailgate the University will be hosting a BBQ starting at 11:15 AM.  All UNK students are welcome to partake for $ 2.00 while the general public can eat for $ 6.00.

     “Loper Alley is all about providing Loper fans the opportunity to get together, enjoy time with friends and family, eat and watch football”, said Shawn Fairbanks, Assistant Athletic Director for UNK.   We provide a few elements, but the rest is up to the fan.  We want them to take ownership in this event.  Kearney is a community-centered place to call home and tailgating is a great way to bring both the UNK and community together.  This sort of event really builds the sense of tradition among everyone involved.”
