FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 15, 2002
Kearney, NE – Thanks to a couple of long winning streaks, the Nebraska-Kearney basketball program is the second winningest in all of NCAA Division II.
UNK has a combined record of 39-6, good for a winning percentage of 86.6. Only Adelphi University of Garden City, N.Y., has a better mark (93.1.) The Lopers and the Panthers are also the only two Division II schools to have both teams ranked in the top two in each region poll.
The Loper win streaks are also among the best in the nation. The men currently have the longest streak in Division II (18) while the women's 15 game effort trails only American International of Massachusetts (16) and St. Mary's of Texas (18).
Below are the top five Division II basketball programs, based on current winning percentage. UNK hosts Metro State tomorrow night.
