Cagers Win 23rd Straight Home Game

Lopers Remain Unbeaten

            Kearney, NE – The 24th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney men’s basketball team remained unbeaten on the season with an easy 97-74 win over Doane College (7-6) Monday night at the Health & Sports Center.

            All 11 Lopers (7-0) who suited up scored with six players reaching double figures. The win also was the Lopers 23rd in a row at home, tied for the second longest streak in Division II. UNK has won 51 of its last 52 games at the Health & Sports Center, dating back to the 2001-02 season.

            UNK led 18-16 with 9:26 left in the first half but used a 10-0 run to open things up and never looked back. The Lopers shot 55.6 percent for the game, forced 23 turnovers and out rebounded the Tigers by eight.

            Grand Island senior guard Brian Dunagan and junior guard Will Taukiuvea each had 17 points to pace the Lopers. Dunagan had 12 of his points in the first half while Taukiuvea had nine points in the second half on four of five shooting.

            The leading scorer in the RMAC at 24.0 ppg, North Platte senior Nick Branting had 11 points tonight in limited action, along with four boards and four blocks. Off the bench, Omaha junior Cameron Lollar added 13 and North Platte senior Jacob Mohs had a career-high 10 points on perfect 4 of 4 shooting.

            Brent Cole led Doane with 19 points off the bench.

            UNK is off until playing at Hastings December 30th.
