Bellevue West Star Signs with Lopers
Second Recruit for Men's Basketball
Kearney, NE - Jordan Farmer, a 6-8, 215 lbs. center from Bellevue West High School, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Nebraska-Kearney, it was announced today by head coach Tom Kropp.
Farmer is the team's second recruit this year. Forward Jacob Burger (6-5, 205 lbs.) joined the team in January after spending one season at Otero J.C. in Colorado.
Farmer fills an immediate need in the post where the Lopers lose All-American Nick Svehla and high scoring Mike Gitt. Farmer is also the second Bellevue West product on the roster, joining junior guard Marty Levinson.
He led the Thunderbirds to a 16-5 record this year and a No. 1 seed in District A-4. A three-year letterwinner and two-year starter, Farmer averaged around 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 57 percent from the field. His rebound total was the second highest in school history for a single season.
Recently, Farmer was selected to play in the Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Game, which will take place July 30th at Lincoln North High School. He also was named honorable mention all-state and second-team all-division in Omaha this year.
UNK expects to add several more players in the coming weeks. |
