All-Time Leader in Wrestling Wins

Kearney, Neb. –   Columbus sophomore Dusty Jura had a team-high 21 points and Colorado sophomore James Lane was big down the stretch to lead the Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team to a hard fought 92-88 win at Colorado Christian Friday night in Lakewood, Colo.

UNK (16-4, 10-2 RMAC) has won four straight while the Cougars (16-5, 8-5 RMAC) are now 2-20 all-time vs. the Lopers.

In a back and forth game, UNK took the lead for good with just over three minutes to go,79-77,  when Colorado sophomore Chad Burger (12 points, eight rebounds) made two free throws.

Lane, who scored nine of his season-high 18 points in the final two minutes, gave UNK its biggest lead of the night, at that point, when he hit a three with 1:46 to go to push the Loper lead to five, 85-79.

The University of Denver transfer then sunk six straight free throws to keep the Cougars a bay. CCU  did go 3 of 5 from the three point line in the final 50 seconds to make things interesting.

Lane finished the game 4 of 6 from the three point line, to go along with two assists and two steals. Jura was made eight of 12 shots from the floor, was 5 of 9 from the line and also grabbed six rebounds.

CCU came into the game leading the nation in field goal and three point percentage. The Cougs did out shoot UNK, 51.7 to 47 percent, but they struggled from the three point line until the final minute.

UNK had an edge on the glass, 39-30, and also forced three more turnovers.

Also for the Lopers, California junior Chris Dean had 16 points and seven rebounds and Bellevue senior Marty Levinson had 13 points and two steals.

Australian senior post players Ash Cannan and Brent Hobba lead CCU. Cannan had 18 of his game-high 23 points in the first half while Hobba added 16 points and eight rebounds.
