Men’s Basketball Dominates PuebloLopers Make 13 Treys Kearney, Neb. – Six players, including all five starters, were in double figures to lead the Nebraska-Kearney men’s basketball team to a 93-75 win over Colorado State-Pueblo Sunday afternoon at the Health & Sports Center. UNK (4-2, 1-0 RMAC) has won four in a row while the Thunderwolves fall to 5-4 (0-1 RMAC) on the year. The Lopers, dominating the glass and on the perimeter, led from start to finish. UNK went 13 of 26 from behind the three point line, outrebouded CSUP 35-20 and forced 22 turnovers. The 13 threes are the most made by UNK this year and just four shy of the school record. The Lopers have sunk 32 threes over its last three games and are shooting 43 percent from the arc on the year. After scoring a career-high 20 points Tuesday vs. Hastings, Bellevue senior Marty Levinson had 21 points today on 7 of 12 shooting. He made five threes for the second straight contest and is shooting 50 percent (13 of 26) from behind the arc in four games. Columbus sophomore forward Dusty Jura had 20 points, seven assists, five steals and three boards in 25 minutes while the three other starters – senior Will Taukiuvea (Salt Lake City, Utah), junior Chris Dean (LaVerne, Calif.) and sophomore Chad Burger (Colorado Springs)-- each had 12 points. Finally, Ogallala freshman Nick Morrell scored a season-best 11 points coming off the bench. Brian Vecchio (15) and Luis Marquez (12) led Pueblo. UNK hosts Doane College Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. |
