Men’s Baksetball Scores 102

Lions Remain Winless

            Kearney, NE — Colorado Springs native Chad Burger had season-highs in points (18) and rebounds (12) in lead the Nebraska-Kearney men’s basketball team to an easy 102-68 win at Colorado-Colorado Springs Friday night.

            UNK (10-3, 5-1 RMAC) bounces back from last Saturday’s overtime loss to Fort Lewis while UCCS (0-13, 0-7 RMAC) has yet to win a game this year.

            A graduate of Doherty High School, Burger had his first double double as a Loper, despite coming off the bench. The transfer from Northern Arizona was 7 of 13 from the field, including a 2 of 2 effort from the three point line.

            He also grabbed seven offensive rebounds and had three assists in 22 minutes.

            Fellow sophomre James Lane, a graduate of Palmer High in the Springs, had seven points and a team-high six assists in just 18 minutes of work.

            Leading 53-36 at the break, UNK shot 54 percent from the floor on the night, including a solid 11 of 26 effort from the the three point line. The Lopers also out rebounded the Lions by 13, 47-34.

            Four other Lopers were in double figures besides Burger, including Utah senior Will Taukiuvea (17) and California junior Chris Dean (13).

            Jim Pecic led UCCS with 19 points.

            UNK plays at New Mexico Highlands.
