Lopers Winning RMAC Honors
Kearney, Neb. – Over the last three weeks, Nebraska-Kearney winter athletes have picked “Athlete of the Week” honors from the RMAC
This week, men’s basketball junior Chris Dean is the East Division POW. In three wins last week he averaged 16.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 75 percent (22 of 29).
The California native, the first UNK player to win the award this year, is the only Loper to be in double figures in all nine games this year.
For the week of Dec. 17th, Mitchell sophomore Matt True (141 lbs.) took home RMAC Wrestler of the Week honors.
He went 4-0 in the Runza UNK Open, upsetting No. 2 ranked Eli Dominguez of UNO in the semifinals and then 4th-ranked R.C. LaHaye of Western State in the finals.
Lyman junior Jeff Sylvester won the same award for the week of Dec. 8th. He was dominant in placing first at the Bob Smith Open, getting three falls among his four wins.
The basketball honorees are usually announced Tuesday while wrestler of the week honors come out later in the week. |
