Basketball 1st, 6th Seeds in Tournament

Men Host Game Wednesday

Kearney, Neb. –   The Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball is the top seed while the Loper women are the sixth seed in the 2005 RMAC Tournament.

On the men's side, UNK will host eighth seeded New Mexico Highlands (11-16, 9-10 RMAC) Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.

A win would send UNK (22-5, 16-3 RMAC) to Colorado Springs and the semifinals Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CST where the Lopers would face either 4th-seeded Mesa State or 5th-seeded Fort Hays State.

Both Metro State and Fort Lewis had identical 16-3 league record but the Lopers earned the top seed due to the tiebreaker. This is the third time UNK has been the top seed in the event, following 2002 and 2003.

On the women's side, Colorado School of Mines (19-8, 13-6 RMAC) jumped the Lopers for the fifth seed by winning at league leaders Metro State and Regis this weekend.

Instead of playing at Hays on Wednesday, the Lopers (14-13, 12-7 RMAC) will now play at 3rd-seed Metro State (21-6, 15-4 RMAC) at 6:00 p.m. CST.

A UNK win would put the Lopers in the semifinals Saturday at 5:00 p.m. vs. 2nd-seeded Highlands or 7th-seeded Fort Lewis.
