Beranek Tabbed by Street & Smith'sCentral Region Will Represented
Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney junior forward Drake Beranek has been tabbed a preseason All-American by Street & Smith’s magazine.
The 6-4 Ravenna native
averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last year while shooting
48 percent from the field and 49 percent Not surprisingly, Beranek was recently named the 2008-09 Preseason RMAC Player of the Year. Other Central region players tabbed as honorable mention preseason All-Americans include Craig Heiman of Concordia-St. Paul, Jake Morrow of Minnesota State, Matt Schneck of St. Cloud State, Brian Sykora of Minnesota-Duluth and Jesse Wagstaff of Metro State. The magazine’s preseason top 10 is led by South Carolina-Aiken, Findlay (Ohio) and Gannon (Pa.). No Central region teams are ranked. UNK has its first official practice next Wednesday (Oct. 15). The Lopers do not have a scheduled exhibition game this season; they’ll begin the regular season at home Nov. 17th vs. Nebraska-Omaha. |
