Men's Basketball Signs Two Prep Standouts

Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball co-head coaches Tom Kropp and Kevin Lofton announced that Tim Billingsley (Parker, Colo./Arapahoe H.S.) and Mike Dentlinger (Omaha/Millard North H.S.) have signed on to play for the Lopers next season.

These are UNK's first two recruits for the upcoming 2010-11 season.

A 6-3 wing, Billingsley was one of Colorado top players this season. Averaging 14.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game, he recently was named MVP of “The Show”, an all-star game for Colorado's top seniors that is played in the Pepsi Center prior to a Denver Nuggets game.

In the April 4th contest, Billingsley scored 15 points to help his team win.

The 2010 Centennial League Player of the Year, he also was tabbed second-team Class 5-A all-state. Helping his team post a 22-4 record and reach the Class 5-A state quarterfinals, Billingsley began his career at Chaparral High.

For a Millard North High team that reached the A-6 District finals this season, Dentlinger averaged a double double (21.0 ppg & 11.8 rpg) en route to earning second-team All-Nebraska honors.

Selected to play in the Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star game this July, Dentlinger also was named first-team Class A all-state. As a junior, the 6-6 forward came in at 17.9 ppg and was a Class A honorable mention all-state pick.

In 2009-10, UNK won 13 games and five of the top six scorers will return next season.
