Softball Adds Five to RosterTwo McCook Natives
Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney head softball coach Holly Carnes today announced the names of five high school seniors who'll play for the Lopers in 2009. They are Kirstie Hiatt and Austin Wilson of McCook, Alison Seberger (Lexington), Allie Frost (Douglas County West H.S.) and Kasey Nansel (Conifer, Colo.) These are UNK's first recruits of the year. Hiatt will help replace Amanda Bell on the mound. Posting a 14-4 mark in 2007, she earned second-team Class B all-state honors from the Omaha World Herald this fall. Wilson will help fill the void left by another McCook native, Michelle Gaunt, in the outfield while Seberger is an infielder/pitcher. Batting .400, Wilson was named second-team Class B all-state as a designated player in 2007 with Seberger earning Class B honorable mention accolades. Frost, a second-team Class C all-state pick in 2007, is slated to play catcher and first base with Nansel (Conifer H.S.) being a utility player. UNK went 22-28 in 2008 and went 2-2 in the RMAC Tournament. Besides Bell and Gaunt, the Lopers also lost starters Molly Langerak (catcher) and Katie Pfannenstiel (second baseman) to graduation. | ||
