Swimming in 6th Place

Atterbury Finishes Third

            Kearney, NE –The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming and diving team sits in sixth place after the first two days of the Central States Conference Championships held in Springfield, Mo.

            UNK has scored 85 points and is ahead of Morningisde (79) and Metro State (64). Truman State  (368.50) leads with host Drury (364) second.

            Kansas sophomore diver Jennifer Atterbury collected 16 team points with a third place finish at one meters. She scored 302.90 points. Two Minnesota State-Moorhead divers were ahead of her, led by Sarah Chaussee (336.05).

            Also, Scottsbluff freshman Becky Tompkins made the event finals in the 200 I.M. (2:29.15) but didn't place high enough (18th) to score any team points.

            On Wednesday night, Kansas junior Kristina Jegel placed 16th in the 1,000 free (12:02.92) to score a team point.

            The rest of Aqulopers points have come in three relay events, including a seventh place effort in the 400 medley relay (4:36.39).

            The meet continues today and concludes tomorrow night.
