Aqualopers 8th in MissouriUNK Competes in Central States Kearney, NE – The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming and diving team scored 124 points to finish eighth at the Central States Invitational this weekend in Springfield, Mo. The meet began Wednesday night and was hosted by Drury. Truman State won on the women's side, scoring 1,078.50 points. Drury was second (974) and Lewis of Illinois third (374). Sophomore Jennifer Atterbury (Haysville, Kans.) scored 20 team points by winning the 3-meter diving competition for the second consecutive season. She scored 385.55 points to edge out three other divers, including runner up Sarah Chaussee of Minnesota State-Moorhead (379.20). In the pool, Kansas junior Kristina Jegel had UNK's top finish for the meet, coming in 12th in the 200 backstroke (2:22.35). The Aqualopers also tallied 12 team points in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Colorado sophomore Jesslyn Hackman was 13th in both events (100-1:16.44; 200-2:45.09) with fellow Colorado sophomore Jillian Woltman finishing 16th in each event (100-1:20.24; 200-2:50.45). Finally, placing 16th in event finals were Scottsbluff freshman Becky Tompkins in the 400 I.M. (5:15.27) and Minnesota freshman Jen Morlock in the 200 fly (2:38.59). |
