Aqualopers Eighth Place in Iowa

Divers Lead Way; Weihl Busy

      

      Kearney, Neb. –  The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming and diving team return to action after a long layoff this weekend by finishing in eighth place at the Grinnell College Invitational in Iowa. 

      UNK scored 77 points with Luther College of Iowa winning (503) and the host Grinnell second (455).

      On Friday, sophomore diver Annie Moyer won at one meters (385.00) with junior Jennifer Kirkland sixth (329.00). A day later, Moyer was second (372.00) and Kirkland (344.70) third at three meters. 

      Overall, the pair combined to score 51 points this weekend.

      In the pool, Omaha freshman Kari Weihl finished eighth in the 100 fly (1:07.83), 9th in the 200 fly (2:35.88) and was 12th in the 1,650 free (20:07.89).

       Weihl also swam on the 400 medley (5:30.18) and 200 medley (2:29.36) relay teams. Both finished in ninth place and netted 16 total team points.

      UNK hosts Morningside college next Saturday in Cushing Pool.
