Aqualopers Tie Morningside College

Kirkland NCAA Qualifier

Kearney, Neb. –  The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming & diving team and Morningside College (Iowa) tied a dual, 90 points each, Saturday afternoon in Cushing Pool.

UNK is now 2-7-1 on the year.

In the pool, Omaha freshman Kari Weihl won the 100 butterfly (1:07.05) while Missouri freshman Rachael Cochran placed first in the 100 freestyle (1:00.61).

Weihl was also runner up in the 200 individual medley (2:28.66) and 500 free (5:55.57) with Cochran coming in second in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.37) and 200 freestyle (2:12.79).

In diving, Lincoln sophomore Annie Moyer won at three meters (237.15 points) with Kearney junior Jennifer Kirkland placing first at one meter (253.70).

For Kirkland, her point total qualifies her for the NCAA Championships. She needed to score at least 245.00 points. This year's NCAA meet is March 12-15 in Columbia, Mo.

Earlier this year, Moyer qualified for the big meet at one meter as well.

UNK hosts Nebraska-Omaha in a dual next Saturday.
