Aqualopers Sits in Sixth Place after First Day of RMAC'sInaugural Event
Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming & diving team scored 102 points and sits in sixth place after the first day of the 2008 RMAC Invitational in Golden, Colo. This is the first annual RMAC Invite. Other participating teams include host Colorado School of Mines, Mesa State, Metro State, Grand Canyon (Ariz.), Morningside (Ia.) and the University of Texas at Permian Basin. On the women's side, Mines leads (176 points) with Metro second (172) and Mesa third (130). In the pool, freshman Kari Weihl scored 15 points by placing fourth in the 500 freestyle. Swimming a 5:57.88 in prelims, Weihl (Millard West) lowered her time to 5:54.59 in the finals. Also, Wayne freshman Regan Ruhl finished 13th in the 50 free (28.85) to tally four team points. Ruhl and Weihl then paired up to help the 200 free (2:06.33) and 400 medley (5:27.21) relay teams place sixth, scoring a total of 50 points. UNK then racked up 33 team points as Kearney junior Jen Kirkland was second (372.50) and Lincoln sophomore Annie Moyer third (371.05) on the three meter board. Chandra Lippitt of Mines won the event by tallying 408.05 points. The RMAC Invite will continue through Saturday. |
