Jacome Continues on at Small College NationalsMoves into 5th Place Match
Kearney, Neb. – This morning at the ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Ala., Nebraska-Kearney senior tennis player William Jacome survived by winning his consolation match. Going up against 2nd seed Julien Carsuzza of Lynn U. (Fla.), Jacome won 6-4, 6-2. In the last national rankings (May), Carsuzza came in at No. 10 with Jacome ranked 30th. Jacome now advances to the fifth place match, which will take place tomorrow (Oct. 13) at 10:30 a.m. There, he'll face Bijan Moallemi of UC San Diego. Moallemi out lasted Robert Jendelund of Armstrong Atlantic State, Ga. (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) in his console match today. On Thursday, Jacome lost to Alex Grubin of Concordia-N.Y. (3-6, 6-3, 2-6) in one national quarterfinal match. Grubin breezed into the finals today with a straight sets win over Incarnate Word's Henry Estrella (6-1, 6-0).
