Central Oklahoma Downs Lopers in Lincoln

Messbarger Picks Up Win

       Kearney, Neb. –  The Nebraska-Kearney women's tennis team fell to 2-1 on the season after an 8-1 dual loss to Central Oklahoma Saturday at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln.

      The Bronchos, a regionally-ranked squad, are now 1-1. Earlier in the day, the lost 7-0 to Nebraska.

      UNK's only win in the dual came at No. 2 singles where Kearney sophomore Kristen Messbarger edged Audrey Donovan (6-7, 6-1, 10-8).

      Senior Jenna Eichman (No. 5/6-3, 6-4) and freshman Marcelle Strydom (No. 3/7-6, 6-3) battled in their singles setbacks while UNK fell 8-3 at both No. 1(Messbarger and Mary Outhwaite) and No. 3 (Eichman and Strydom) doubles.

      Things don't get any easier the next two weeks as the Lopers will battle Division I members SE Missouri State (Feb. 23) and Air Force (March 1). Both duals will be in Lincoln.
