4 X 100 Relay Team Disqualified
Kearney, NE - The final day of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships saw Nebraska-Kearney freshman Allen Burrell (Aurora, Colo.) place sixth in the 200 meter dash. He joins Arnold junior Dave Smith (discus) as the Loper All-Americans this year.
Also competing tonight was the men's 4 X 100 relay team (Burrell, Garth Mins, Scott Schukar and Clark Spanel). The Lopers were disqualified when Schukar started too early on one of the exchanges.
North Carolina Central (39.88) and Fort Hays State (39.95) were the top two finishers in the event. UNK's top time this year was 40.48, which is the school record.
In the 200, Burrell ran a 21.25, just off his school record (21.03) set last night in the prelims. Lancford Davis of St. Augustine's (N.C.) won the national title in a time of 20.55. Olan Coleman of Tarleton State (Tex.) was runner up (20.59) and Orville Taylor of New York Tech third (20.67)
