Track Has 14 NCAA QualifiersThree to Compete in Two Events
Kearney, NE - The Nebraska-Kearney track
team will send 14 student-athletes (nine men, five women) to the NCAA
Division II Championships May 27-29 in Walnut, Calif.
The list of 620
qualifiers was released today by the NCAA. The meet will take place at
Mount San Antonio College and is hosted by Cal Poly Pomona.
Seniors making it are
Derek Bailey (Ansley), Lisa Calleroz (Kearney), Scott
Jorgensen (Grand Island), John Laux (Lexington), Clark
Spanel (Grand Island) and Nate Wheat (Lakin, Kans.).
Juniors Derek Frese
(Walthill), Lesley Crutcher (Elkhorn), Mike Ford (Bertand),
Kate Semin (Bellwood) and Amber Tiefenthaler (Butte),
along with sophomores Shauna Birchard (Central City) and Lance
Pfeiffer (Eustis) and freshman Chase Beideck (Kearney), round
out the long Loper list. A top eight finish at the meet is good for All-American honors. Bailey, Tiefenthaler and Wheat all earned All-American honors last year.
