Track Signs GI Northwest Star

Lopers Add Talented Athlete 

            Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney head track and field coach Andy Meyer announced today that Grand Island Northwest star Alicia Frederick has signed a letter of intent with the Lopers. 

            Last spring, Frederick helped the Vikings to a third place finish at the B5 Districts. She was runner up in the shot put (39-7) while also placing fourth in the 100-meter dash. She then ran on the 400-meter relay team that finished second and qualified for state.

            At the state meet, she finished 17^th in the shot put.

            “We’re very excited to have someone with Alicia’s versatility and strengths joining our team next year, ” Meyer said. “Her natural athletic ability will give her the opportunity to help us in a number of areas, including the throws and the multi-events.”

            Last week, Franklin thrower Samantha Murphy announced her intentions to be a Loper next year.

            The Lopers begin the season in just a few weeks with the Kearney Pre-Holiday Open on Friday, December 10^th.

            It will be the first of five home events for the team this season, which includes the RMAC Indoor Championships.
