Track 8th, 9th in Latest National RankingsLoper Women Lead RMAC Schools
Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney track and field teams are ranked 8th (women) and 9th (men) in the latest USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Division II Power Rankings. The sixth edition of the indoor rankings, the UNK women have 231.53 points -- tops among RMAC schools -- with the Loper men at 242.83 points. Ashland U. of Ohio leads both polls, having 265.07 men's points and 251.27 on the women's side. A team's total point score is the sum of all points earned by a team in each event. Teams are allowed to select up to two student-athletes per event, and an athlete can only be used in a maximum of three events (not including relays). Also, only one relay team per event can be selected. Schools are responsible for submitting their own results. UNK, a member of the North Central Region in track, has been in and out of the rankings all season. Other teams from the RMAC ranked on the men's side include Adams State 2nd/264.92), Western State (6th/252.65), Colorado School of Mines (11th/239.94) and Chadron State (13th/238.01). For the women, Adams State is ninth (229.15) and Western State 11th (226.79). This weekend, the Lopers are hosting the RMAC Indoor Championships.
