Glidden, Malicky Selected to Academic All-Region TeamsSponsored by ESPN The Magazine
Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney senior volleyball player Alison Glidden and junior football player Brian Malicky have been selected to their respective sports Academic All-District VII teams. Sponsored by ESPN the Magazine and CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), the teams are voted upon by sports information directors from within the district. District seven includes Division II, Division III and NAIA schools in Nebraska, Iowa, the Dakotas, Missouri, Kansas, Wyoming and Montana. Both Glidden (Benkelman) and Malicky (Columbus) each earned second-team honors. First-team members move on to the national ballot where they could earn Academic All-American honors. Glidden maintains a 3.73 cumulative GPA as an Exercise Science major. A starting outside hitter for the 21st-ranked Lopers, she is averaging 2.49 kills and 1.27 digs per game. A fourth-year junior, Malicky has a 3.99 GPA in Exercise Science. For the second straight fall, his season came to an end in the fifth game due to injury. Before the ailment, Malicky was one of UNK's starting outside linebackers and had made 15 tackles, including two for a loss of eight yards.
