Volleyball 19th in Final PollNew Region Features National Champ
Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team is ranked 19th in the final CSTV (College Sports Television)/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 poll for 2007. This is the highest ranking for the Lopers (33-5) all season long. In 2007, UNK was co-RMAC Champions, RMAC Tournament Champions and runners up in the Southwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament. This past weekend at the Elite Eight in Topeka, Kans., Southwest champion West Texas A & M advanced to the final four before falling to eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.). The Golden Bears (36-4) swept Western Washington in the national championship match Saturday night. Next, year UNK and the RMAC moves to the North Central Region which Concordia is a part of. Also in that region will be Minnesota-Duluth (No. 5), SW Minnesota State (No. 12), Minnesota State (No. 21) and Augustana (No. 24). West Texas (36-8) finished 6th in the poll and was the only other team from the Southwest to be ranked besides the Lopers. The complete poll can be found at www.avca.org. |
