2000-01 (So.): Kruger was one of the best players on the team, ranking first in field goals made, second in rebounding and blocks and third in scoring. She earned honorable mention All-RMAC honors at year’s end. Playing a bit more on the perimeter, Kruger led the Lopers in scoring 11 times, including in the NCAA game against Minn.-Duluth (17). She had two double doubles, both coming in the first three games of the year. Kruger tallied a career-best 24 points at Colorado Springs in December. Like several other Lopers, Kruger made the Academic All-RMAC team.
1999-00 (Fr.): Statistically the best freshman in the RMAC, Kruger was a major factor in the Lopers post game, despite being a bit undersized. Her collegiate career began with a bang as she was named MVP of the News Press Invitational in Missouri after her first two games. In the title contest against Southern Indiana, she had 17 points and nine rebounds. First on the team in FG percentage and second in points, rebounds and blocks, Kruger was in the RMAC top ten in three different categories, including first in FG percentage. She led UNK in scoring nine times, including five times after Feb. 1st. Kruger had her third and final double-double of the year Feb. 15th in a win over Hays (12 points, 12 rebounds). Her season-high of 20 points came in December at Colorado Mines where she made all seven free throws she attempted.
High School: Kruger was on the basketball, volleyball, softball, and track teams at South O’Brien. On the court, Kruger earned second-team all-state honors as a senior while being named to the All-Northwest Iowa team. She averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, five steals, five blocked shots and three assists per game while shooting 58 percent from the field. Subsequently, the Des Moines Register named her the Player of the Year in her class. A three-time all-conference pick, Kruger also made the all-tournament teams at the Miss Basketball Showcase, held in Kearney, and at the Iowa AAU Tournament. At the state track championships, she placed first in the shot put, was third in the long jump and ran on the 4 X 100 relay team. In the classroom, Krueger ranked eighth in her class with a 3.84 GPA. She picked the Lopers over Missouri Western State and NCAA Division I North Carolina-Wilmington, among others.
