Stephens
Becomes Schools Winningest Coach in Easy Win
Kearney, NE —
University of Nebraska at Kearney women’s basketball coach Amy
Stephens became the school’s all-time winningest coach with an easy
90-47 win over Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Fort Lewis
Sunday night in the Health and Sports Center.
Stephens is 155-33 in her seventh

With the win, the 10th-ranked
Lopers (8-0, 3-0 RMAC) ran their home court winning streak to 76 games, a
streak that dates back to 1995 and is the longest current home-court
streak in the nation.
The Lopers, after jumping out to a
10-8 lead with 13:44 left in the first half, went on a 30-3 run in the
next 11:05 and never looked back. All 11 Lopers that played scored and
five were in double figures.
Sophomore Allison Kruger (Paulina,
Ia.) led the UNK attack with 17 points and six rebounds. Junior Beth
Swift (LeMars, Ia.) had 16, freshman Heather Steffen (West
Point, Neb.) had 15 and senior Becky Schroeder (Belden, Neb.) had
13.
Junior Mamissa Mwenentanda (Lubumbashi,
Congo), in her first game as a Loper, had 10 points and a game-high nine
rebounds. Mwenentanda transferred to UNK from NCAA Division I Old Dominion
last year, and had to sit out the mandatory one-year waiting period.
The Lopers shot just over 50 percent
for the game (.508) and made 23 of 31 from the free throw line. UNK had 15
steals in forcing 31 Skyhawk turnovers.
The Skyhawks (1-7, 0-2 RMAC) were
led by Lindsay English’s nine points.
The Lopers are home again Monday
night as they host New Mexico Highlands at 6 p.m. The Cowgirls who fell to
