Final Region Rankings
Announced for Basketball

Men 5th; Women 3rd

Kearney, NE – The University of Nebraska at Kearney men's and women's basketball teams are both in the top six in the last edition of North Central Regional rankings, announced today.

Bids to the "Big Dance" will go out this Sunday after conference tournaments are completed. The top six teams in the region make the NCAA Tournament, slated to take place next weekend. The top two seeds get a first round bye with the No. 1 team hosting the two-day tournament.

The Loper women (25-2) remained third, a spot they have occupied for over a month. North Central Conference powers North Dakota and North Dakota State are in the top two positions.

The UNK men (21-5) also didn’t move. They are fifth for the second week in a row. The Lopers play Mesa State in an RMAC Tournament semifinal game Friday night in Denver. The winner of that contest will not only make the tourney finals but also will more than likely secure a NCAA bid.
