FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lopers Make Sixth Straight Appearance in "Big Dance"
Kearney, NE – The University of Nebraska at Kearney women's basketball team (27-2), fresh off its third straight RMAC championship, is the second seed in the North Central Region of the NCAA Tournament. UNK will play the winner of North Dakota State (25-7)/Minnesota-Duluth (19-10) Saturday in Grand Forks, N.D. Times have yet to be determined.
North Dakota (25-3) is the host and No. 1 seed in the region. Other teams in the field include St. Cloud State (20-8) and Southwest State (25-3), both from Minnesota.
The Lopers are 3-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Last year, UNK was seeded third and lost to Northern Colorado, 81-79, in Fargo, N.D.
UNK is 0-1 all-time against Duluth and NDSU. The Lopers fell to UMD 66-65, in OT, in the 1999 NCAA's. In 1997, the Bison beat UNK, 76-65, in the region championship game.
With one more victory, UNK will tie the school record for wins in a year (28, 1996-97 team). The Lopers are also just one of seven schools to have made the last six NCAA tourneys. UND and NDSU are also on that select list.
All UNK games will be broadcast live on KGFW-AM 1340 and at www.lopers.com
