Swift Named Player of the Year

Kruger, Schroeder Also Honored

Kearney, NE – University of Nebraska at Kearney junior guard Beth Swift has been named Co-Player of the Year in the RMAC, along with Colorado Christian's Tina Remond.

Swift is the third Loper to win the award, following Jennifer Warner (1996 and 1997) and Darcy Stracke (1999).

This season, Swift ranked in the RMAC top 10 in six different categories. She was among the nation’s top three point shooters and led the Lopers in scoring, assists, steals and free throw percentage.

Swift has picked up a lot of hardware this year. She was named MVP of both the Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament (at Minnesota State) and the UNK Thanksgiving Classic.

She also was named first-team All-RMAC and to the East Division first-team.

For the second time in her career, Becky Schroeder has earned All-RMAC honors. As a junior, she was named honorable mention.

Schroeder was one of the league’s top post players, ranking 11th in scoring and third on UNK in rebounding.

The Laurel native is just one of five Lopers to have scored 1,000 points and grabbed 600 rebounds in a career.

The third UNK player to be honored was sophomore Allison Kruger. She was named to the honorable mention team after ranking second on the team in rebounds (5.9) and third in scoring (14.1). After leading the league in FG percentage last winter, Kruger was again accurate from the field (52.2).
