Women's Basketball Honored for GPA

Lopers Make Top Five for Fifth Time in Six Years

Kearney, NE – The women's basketball team at the University of Nebraska at Kearney had the third highest team cumulative grade point average (3.494) in NCAA Division II for the 1999-2000 season. It’s the fifth time in six years UNK has had one of the five highest GPA's in the nation.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its 2000 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll today, recognizing the nation's highest NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and Junior/Community College team grade point averages for last season. The honor roll is based on nominations sent in by WBCA-member coaches.

While the entire Loper team had stellar GPA's, four players - seniors Jodi Dubs (3.40/Biology-Pre-Pharmacy) and Lee Ramey (3.90/bioogy) and sophomores Anny Burdorf (4.00/Elementary Education) and Shelly Marks (3.70/Organizational Communication)- earned Academic All-RMAC honors last season.

UNK has advanced to five straight NCAA Tournaments, won at least 24 games since 1995 and owns a 72-game home court winning streak.
