Women’s Basketball Schedule ReleasedLopers Open in Florida Kearney, NE – The Nebraska-Kearney women’s basketball team, aiming for an unprecedented ninth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2004, will open this upcoming season in a prestigious tournament in Florida. It will be the program’s longest road trip since the 1997-98 team went to California. Prior to the trip South, the defending RMAC Champions will play exhibition games at Creighton (November 9th) and at Nebraska (November 13th). The Lopers have met UNL each of the past two seasons while this will be the first game against the Bluejays since 1980. The inaugural Holiday Isle Classic will be held November 20th (Thursday) and November 22nd (Saturday) at Coral Shoals High School in Tavernier, Fla., located in The Keys. Hosted by SportComm, this will be an annual event that will feature the defending NCAA Division II national champion and national runner up, along with two other teams. UNK’s first game of the year will come against defending National Champion South Dakota State on November 20th. SDSU beat UNK, 82-59, last year in Kearney. Northern Kentucky, which lost to SDSU in the Division II title game last March, will play Nova Southeastern (Fla.) in the other side of the bracket. The winners and losers of each game will play each other on November 22nd. UNK and the 'Rabbits will play at 8:00 p.m. CST on the 20th. UNK would play at 5:30 or 8:00 p.m. on Saturday A special travel package is available exclusively for fans of the participating teams. Packages are $ 699 per person (double occupancy) and include: round trip airfare, ground transfers to/from the airport, four nights of deluxe hotel accommodations, game tickets, discounts to area attractions and an inaugural event souvenir.
