Women Win by 50

Five Lopers in Double Figures 

            Kearney, NE – The Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team scored the game's first seven points to cruise to an 93-43 victory over Colorado Christian Friday night at the Health & Sports Center.

            UNK (17-5, 11-3 RMAC) ends a two game losing streak while CCU (1-21) remains winless in league player (0-14).

            All eight Lopers who suited up scored with each of those players tallying at least 17 minutes. The Lopers sunk 20 of 28 goals (71.4 percent) in the first half while holding the Cougars to a 24 percent mark (7 of 28) over the first 20 minutes.

            UNK cooled to off in the second half but held CCU to 25 percent from the floor for the night (15 of 60). The blue and gold also scored 26 points off 22 CCU turnovers.

            Iowa sophomore Kalee Modlin and North Platte sophomore Anne Manning each scored 17 points to lead the way. Each also missed only two shots from the field, Mannning making 8 of 10 shots and Modlin connecting on 7 of 9 attempts. The duo also combined for 13 rebounds.

            Also in the post, senior Allison Kruger scored 14 points and had seven rebounds in 20 minutes. She also moved past Darce Nienkamp (735) into fifth place on the career rebounding list (737).

            On the perimeter, West Point senior Heather Steffen had 12 points and Fairfield junior Taryn Ninemire had 12 points and six assists off the bench. The two combined to go 5 of 9 from the three point line.

            Rhiannon Dickson led the Cougars with 11 points.

            UNK will have a tougher test tomorrow night when Colorado School of Mines visits.
