Women’s Basketball Signs Strong ShooterLopers Add Iowa Native Kearney, Neb. –
Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball coach Carol Russell announced
today that Jenny Harle, a guard from Des Moines Area C.C. in
Boone, Iowa, is transferring to UNK and will have two years of
eligibility remaining. "Jenny is a great addition to our Loper family. She is very competitive, is a great shooter and will really help us at the two guard position," Russell said. “With her work ethic and strong academic background, she will fit right in with our team.” Harle joins forwards Amy Mathis (Millard North H.S.) and Melissa Hinkley (Lincoln East H.S.) as Loper recruits so far this year. A 5-8 shooting guard, Harle earned third-team All-American and first-team All-Region honors this year for the Bears. She led the team in three pointers made (103) while averaging 12.5 points, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Harle’s strong play helped DMACC set the school record for wins in a season (27), along with establishing new records for home wins (17) and conference wins (13). The Bears posted a 27-6 record and finished the year ranked 9th nationally. Harle, a native of Urbandale, Iowa, also prepped at one of the best high school programs in Iowa, West Des Moines Dowling. Her signing continues the Loper pipeline from Iowa. Junior center Kalee Modlin, a first-team All-RMAC selection last winter, is from Knoxville while former RMAC Players of the Year Allison Kruger (Paullina) and Beth Swift (LeMars) also hailed from the Hawkeye state. The Lopers will be aiming for an unprecedented 10th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in the 2004-05 season. |
