Women's Basketball Has Four on RMAC Team

Modlin  Makes First Squad

            Kearney, Neb. –   The Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team has placed four players on the 2005 All-RMAC team.

            Junior center Kalee Modlin (Knoxville, Ia.) earns 1st-team All-RMAC honors along with 1st-team East Division accolades for the second straight year.

            The RMAC names separate teams for the East and West Divisions and then top five players from the entire league make up the All-RMAC first-team.

            Senior guard Amber Whitlock (Stoneham, Colo.), senior center Jenny Brown (Pleasanton) and junior forward Anne Manning (North Platte) all earned honorable mention East Division honors. 

            Regis sophomore guard Diana Lopez was named the Player, and Defensive Player, of the Year. She is averaging a league-best 17.7 points per game, along with a league-best 4.5 steals per game.

            Modlin is just the sixth Loper to earn All-RMAC honors three times in a career.

            Despite playing with a back injury all year long, she led UNK in scoring (14.2), rebounding (7.6), steals (1.7) and blocks (31) while shooting a healthy 50 percent from the field.

            In the RMAC, she ranks seventh in scoring and rebounding and fifth in blocks.

            Manning, earning All-RMAC honors for the first time, was third on UNK in scoring (10.2) and rebounding (4.2). She also led the team in offensive rebounds (69/2.5 pg.) while ranking second in field goal percentage (52.8).

            Whitlock, the team's point guard, led the Lopers in assists (2.8), was second in threes made (27) and fourth in scoring (9.3).

            In her one and only year as a Loper, Brown played in 20 games and started nine times. She shot a team-best 54.5 percent from the field and averaged 5.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

            UNK finished 2004-05 with a 14-14 record.
