Women’s Basketball Just outside Top 25

One of Two RMAC Schools to Receive Votes

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women’s basketball team is just outside the preseason Top 25 poll, which was released today.

The poll is sponsored by ESPN, USA Today and the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association).

UNK received 77 votes, the most among “others receiving votes”.  Cal Poly-Pomona is ranked 25th with 88 points.

The only other RMAC team to receive votes is Regis, which received three.

Defending national champion California U. of Pennsylvania is preseason No. 1 with 596 points with Drury U. of Missouri, who lost to Cal in the national title game in March, ranked 2nd.

The North Central Region is well represented in the polls as North Dakota (No. 7), Concordia-St. Paul (10th) and South Dakota (No. 18) are all ranked.

UNK begins its season Monday night when UNO visits the Health & Sports Center. The Lopers then head to Colorado for a tournament in which it will play Eastern New Mexico and Northern Michigan next weekend.

The complete poll can be found at www.wbca.org.
