Women's Golf Finishes 3rd in Pueblo

      Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's golf team shot an 36-hole total of 701 to finish in the third place at the Thunderwolf Invitational in Pueblo, Colo.

      The six-team tournament was hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo and played at the par 72 Walking Stick Golf Course.

      UNK sat in second place after Monday's first round (346) but slipped to third after shooting a 355 on Tuesday. Fort Hays State (691/353-338) managed to leap the Lopers and come in second place.

      Mesa State (669) easily walked away with the tournament title.

      South Dakota senior Kami Hehn led UNK with a fifth place effort (164/80-84). She had 14 pars and three birdies over the two days. Maggie Cole of Mesa earned medalist honors by firing a 160 (79-81).

      Kearney junior Megan Marshall had a team-best 16 pars for the tournament and tied for 11th place (175/86-89). Also for Grant freshman Emily Carlson tied for 14th (179/88-90), Kearney freshman Jami Melson was 21st (184/92-92) and Norfolk freshman Thea Baum tied for 28th (197/101-96).

      Carlson's round included two birdies, second most on the Lopers. 

      UNK heads to Parkville, Mo., early next week for the Park U. Invitational.
