Wrestling Pins Bacone

Lopers Get Easy Win

Kearney, NE – The 15th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team began its two-match road swing in the Sooner State by whipping Bacone College, 40-6, tonight in Muskogee, Okla.

The Lopers improve to 6-9 with its win over the Warriors. Bacone came into the dual ranked 9th in the NAIA.

UNK got pins from nationally-ranked Bryce Abbey and Adam Keiswetter, along with one from freshman Caleb Young, an Oklahoma native. For good measure, UNK also got a tech fall from Gering redshirt freshman Pat True.

At 197 lbs, it was a battle of No. 2 ranked individuals as Lyman sophomore Jeff Sylvester took on Niko Kioliastasis, who also was national runner up last year. Sylvester survived by one point in overtime.

Greeley native Tyler Herman also faced a 2003 national runner up in Kenny Taylor. This time, it was Bacone getting the one point win.

UNK heads to No. 2 ranked Central Oklahoma tomorrow night. In one of several interesting matchups, Abbey will face 3rd-ranked Chris Saferite.
