Wrestling Wins at Hays

Lopers Prepare for RMAC's

            Kearney, NE – The Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team finished its dual season by winning at Fort Hays State, 21-17, Tuesday night in Kansas.

            UNK finishes the year with a 7-10 record while the Tigers drop to 10-4.

            Trailing 9-3 after the first three matches, the Lopers got decisions from junior Bryce Abbey (125 lbs.) and freshman Matt True (141 lbs.), along with a pin from junior Adam Keiswetter (133 lbs.), to take a 15-9 lead.

            Greeley sophomore Tyler Herman managed a key win at 157 lbs., 6-3 over Brandon Jobe, to help UNK extend its lead to five at 18-13. Fremont junior Aaron Dalton then ending any Tiger hopes by beating Phil Hart, 6-3, at 165 lbs.

            Abbey will enter next Sunday's RMAC/West Regional Championships with a stellar 30-3 record. Not to be outdone, Lyman sophomore Jeff Sylvester (197 lbs.) is 27-4 after winning his match tonight.

            Both are ranked second in the nation in their respective weight classes.
