Wrestling Goes 1-1 at ChadronLopers Fall to No. 4 Augustana Kearney, Neb. – The 3rd-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team went 1-1 this Saturday in Chadron, beating the Eagles, 32-10, and falling to No. 4 Augustana, 27-14. With one dual remaining, the Lopers are 14-5 on the season. UNK won seven of the 10 matchups vs. Chadron and dropped two by just a single point. Things were different vs. the Vikings, a team that came in with eight nationally-ranked individuals. Augie won the two classes which pitted No. 1 vs. No. 2. At 125 lbs., 2nd-ranked Aaron Graumman edged top-ranked Bryce Abbey, 5-4. After a scoreless first period, Graumman led 2-0 after two. Abbey tried to rally in the third but Graumann got an escape with nine seconds left to get the win. Later in the match, 2nd-ranked Tim Boldt beat top-ranked Jeff Sylvester, 11-4. Boldt had five takedowns in the match, leading 4-1 after one and 6-3 after two. Besides these wins, Augie also got six points for a forfeit at 184 lbs. and six points for a pins at 157 and 174 lbs. Texas redshirt freshman Tervel Dlagnev did major 8th-ranked Chris Bietz, 12-4, at heavyweight. UNK hosts Fort Hays State Thursday night. |
