Five Wrestlers Ranked

Keiswetter No. 1 at 133 lbs.

Kearney, Neb. –   Nebraska-Kearney remains the third ranked wrestling team in the nation while five Lopers are individually ranked as well.  View the complete list.

The second NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches’ Association poll was released this afternoon.

Kearney senior Adam Keiswetter is now the No. 1 ranked individual at 133 lbs. The two-time All-American, ranked No.2 in the preseason poll, will not be able to take the mat as the best wrestler in his class as a nagging knee injury will keep him sidelined until January.

In two open tournaments so far this year, Keiswetter is 6-3 with four pins. Two of his losses have come against Division I competition.

Breaking into the rankings is sophomore Tervel Dlagnev (Arlington, Texas), who is 5th in the heavyweight division.

Dlagnev was a part time starter at 184 lbs. last year but has jumped up two classes this season. He is currently 14-1 with five pins and has three victories over Division I individuals.

Lyman junior Jeff Sylvester (11-3, six pins) remains No. 1 at 197 lbs. while Kansas senior Bryce Abbey (11-5, three pins) is still No. 2 at 125 lbs.

Abbey needs only 11 more wins to become the Lopers all-time leader, surpassing Ali Elias (121).

Finally, Fremont senior Aaron Dalton (9-3) remains 5th at 165 lbs., although he has competed at 174 lbs. so far this year.

UNK hosts its annual open tournament this Saturday in the Health & Sports Center. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run to about 4:00 p.m .
