Wrestling Falls to UNO

Six Classes Decided by Three Points or Less

Kearney, Neb. –   The No. 1 ranked Nebraska-Omaha wrestling team won the first four weight classes by three points or less in rout to beating 3rd-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, 32-4, Saturday night at Sapp Fieldhouse in Omaha.

UNO improves to 7-4 while the Lopers fall to 13-4.

The dual was determined early on as UNO won the first four matchups to get out to a 12-0 lead. The Lopers could've had that same lead but senior Bryce Abbey (125 lbs.) lost 3-2, senior Adam Keiswetter (125 lbs.) fell 6-4, sophomore Matt True (141 lbs.) lost 8-5 and, finally, junior Gabe Re (149 lbs.) lost by a 10-7 count.

All four classes were decided in the third period.

The tough losses continued for UNK as senior Aaron Dalton (174 lbs.) and junior Zac Rice (184 lbs.), both moving up a weight class, fell by 3-2 scores.

Lyman junior Jeff Sylvester got UNK on the board when he majored Ben Strandberg, 10-0, at 197 lbs.

UNK is at Chadron State next weekend. The Lopers will also get a crack at No. 2 Augustana while in Chadron. ...Complete results.
