Coach Bauer Honored by NSWCA

Received Award this Past Weekend

            Kearney, Neb. –   Nebraska-Kearney head wrestling coach Marc Bauer was honored by the Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association (NSWCA) this past weekend in Columbus.

            At the group's 24^th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet at the Elks Country Club, Bauer was honored as the NSWCA Patron of the Year.

            The award is given to an individual who gives tirelessly to support high school wrestling, either in his local community or on a state-wide basis.

            Bauer and his program hold several youth wrestling camps during the summer, in addition to hosting several youth tournaments in the winter and spring months, which bring thousands of competitors and fans to Kearney.

            In his six seasons as UNK head coach, Bauer has led the Lopers  to five RMAC/West Region titles and five top 10 finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships.

            He has been named RMAC/Region Coach of the Year four times and was tabbed as the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year for the 2002-03 academic year.
